My favorite thing today was definitely the AOC defenders adopting the "focusing on the the accuracy of what she said and calling her out is a distraction from the bigger issue" defense without realizing they have become exact mirrors of the cultists who defend Trump.
Remember when Trump claimed that Mexico was sending over rapists and killers? Media got outraged and kept pointing out it was false. Defenders said some bad people come across so his comments are justified.

That's exactly the logic AOC's defenders adopted today.
"Everything she said might have been incredibly ignorant, offensive, and clearly wrong, but it was justified because orange man bad and I don't like what is happening at these facilities.

The real problem is the people attacking her for her ignorance"

The role of journalists when a politician says something incredibly ignorant or offensive is to call it out and correct the record. That reaction shouldn’t depend on the letter next to that politician’s name, but it clearly does with many journalists today.
Instead of behaving like journalists, most mainstream reporters either stayed silent or jumped to her defense like typical crazed partisans. It’s no wonder why most of the public views the media as being closer to a group of pyromaniacs than firefighters.

Reading foreign policy commentary from political pundits and journalists has become unbearable.

People do realize that a full scale ground war or doing nothing are not the only options on how to deal with Iran, right?
Doing nothing as Iran continues to escalate will lead to further aggression. Containment requires for them to recognize consequences to their behavior. Israel’s strategic strikes didn’t magically lead to a full-scare war. Neither would similar strikes from the US.
Ah good to see @EliLake already made the point that we have options other than doing nothing or going to war, and we should explore them:

Connor doesn't always understand Hank.

Despite his sophisticated social protocols, he sometimes has the sense that Hank is trying to say something without saying it. It was like that when he went to DC for a few months with Markus and Josh after the revolution.
He went to Hank's house the night before he left to watch the game - an early tradition of theirs. Connor has said multiple times that sports are only interesting because there's a human margin of error - he doesn't see the shots they make so much as all the ones they miss.

The @jonathanchait article in the current @NYMag on Trump and the Russians is great...a very thought-provoking timeline. Reading it, I was however, struck that perhaps we are looking at the whole story in the wrong way.
It is far too tempting to look at it as being entirely about Trump. And the idea that the president is knowingly collaborating with an enemy to undermine US democracy and interests is undoubtedly, incredibly compelling...and vitally important if true.
But if we look at it from the perspective that the story is about the United States and our national security and not about Trump, it changes the narrative a bit. Because there is no disputing that the Russian engaged in a massive, long-term effort to interfere with US democracy.

1. Fishing was always going to be a big row in #Brexit because its one of the most emotive - touching on matters of territory, identity, heritage and sovereignty - but especially because it was one of the most visible symbols of what was done to the UK without consent.
2. Effectively the EU in conjunction with the British government did to the fisherman what Mrs T is said to have done to the miners. Anyone alive at the time will have vivid memories of family boats at the wreckers. It left a deep economic and emotional scar on coastal towns.
3. Consequently it attracts a lot more political runtime than it should, and the fishing lobby are expert at playing the victim. Possibly they are the most politically overindulged constituency there is because they are totemic for eurosceptics.
