If I spent time over 5 yrs w/ a team, I could develop algorithms that would manipulate what consumers see in such a way that only the most discerning would be able to recognize the patterns and have a chance to defend against the manipulation, and ...

it they would be better & more nefarious than what twitter & facebook use (cuz those guys are kinda dumb). These advanced, detailed and pysche manipulations should NEVER be allowed in the U.S.A.! You don't understand what can be done with these even to the smartest of people.
3.
It's past time government caught up with these practices and technologies before the learning curve becomes unattainable, and thus exponential use of these predatory technologies becomes the norm.

/2 The Court decided Halleck 5-4, which is quite unusual for a First Amendment free speech case these days (though not for a Establishment Clause case). Kavanaugh wrote the opinion for Roberts, Alito, Thomas, and Gorsuch; Sotomayor wrote the dissent for everyone else.
/3 The issue at hand: New York law required cable companies to make available a public access channel for public use. Those public access channels are run by private companies. So are they "public", subject to the First Amendment, or "private," and not subject to it?

Prediction: a huge class action lawsuit by influencers banned or demonetized by social networks will lead to recognizing & protecting:
- accounts as personal property
- posts as free speech

The more livelihoods depend on social influence, the likelier this becomes.
To be featured in this class action lawsuit:

Shadow banning

There are several legal precedents for this:
1) malls are regulated as public spaces and must protect speech and assembly rights even though they're private minnpost.com/cityscape/2015…
2) utilities (gas, water, electric) aren't allowed to cut people off even if they miss bills.
