Here's a short and positive story for you. Today, I replaced a 70 year old refrigerator for a young couple who bought it in 1949.
They're both 94 years old and they've been married for 72 years. He has a little barber shop attached to his house, and he still works cutting hair, 8-5. He has no intention of ever quitting.
They were an absolute inspiration. The love that they obviously have for each other after 72 years is incredible. They love each other, they love life, and, at 94 years old, there was zero complaining and zero negativity.
She is excited to "start a new adventure" - she now has an ice maker and she said she might just make herself a milkshake later.
They invited me to stop and visit any time, and they told me about their daughter (a doctor - they are SO proud of her), their granddaughter (who visited last year). They showed me pictures of their great grandson.
Here's my lesson: enjoy what you have. Be happy. Be positive. Be thankful. Call your dad/mom/grandma/grandpa.
