There has been a lot of talk this week about the transfer records of the 'big 6' in the Premier League following the signings of Rodri & Ndombele. Sky Sports produced a net-spend infographic for Guardiola etc.

We thought we would try to provide a visual representation of this.
This is a graph of the net spend for each of the top-6 clubs in the Premier League up to and including the most recent deals of all six clubs.

As you can see, the net spend of Manchester City is almost as much as Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs combined since the arrival Image
of Pep Guardiola (£466.90 for City compared to £485.36 for those four clubs combined).
However, most top sides will still be relying on players who were signed before 2016. So let us go further back here to 2008.

Here we see that Manchester City have a net spend of ~50m more than Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs combined over this period. Image
Of course, English sides also compete in European competitions and therefore we should see how much is spent comparatively to the top sides spenders in Italy, Spain, Germany and France also.
Here we can see that City have a net spend of ~75m more than Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona combined. Or more than triple that of either Juventus or Bayern Munich.

Given their signing of Rodri, and links to Cancelo and others, they show no sign of slowing down either. Image
To compare the EPL now to some other leagues, this is the Bundesliga by comparison.

Bundesliga's early spending this summer still isn't dragging them back above the 0 line. Image
Also, rewind to 2010/11 when @BlackYellow won the league with a net spend of just £6.5m, 2011/12 when it dropped to £5,75m and retained the title, Or 2012/13 when the club was running on a net profit of £0.87m since 2008 and yet were Champions League finalists.

Last but not least, France.

Wow! French clubs just cannot compete with that level of spending. Seems every other club in the league, bar Marseille, turns a net transfer profit. Image
