Unsealed records revealed today that Flynn will not be called by U.S. prosecutors to testify against his former business partner. Now the federal judge for Flynn's trial wants to know why . . .

Judge Emmet Sullivan ordered the government to respond to his inquiry by end of day tomorrow July 10 and Flynn to respond to the government's filing by July 11.
Sullivan told the former army general "you sold your country out" during his trial in Dec 2018 where Flynn requested a delay of his sentencing for lying to the FBI.

A clarification: The judge said the plaintiffs were "certain to succeed" - you rarely see that kind of langauge in a preliminary injunction order, since it's not supposed to be final (usually the judge will say something like "likely to succeed")

Now: A federal judge in DC denied the govt's motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a married lesbian couple -- one US citizen, one not -- whose child was denied US citizenship because the non-citizen mom gave birth. At a hearing today, the judge called the situation "outrageous"
Judge Emmet Sullivan didn't rule on the merits, only that the couple had made allegations at this stage that were enough for the case to go forward. But the judge made clear that he had a problem with the real-world consequences of the State Dept's position
The couple has two kids, one carried by the US citizen parent and the other carried by the non-citizen. The judge kept returning to a hypothetical scenario of the family arriving at a US airport and one kid sitting there watching as their sibling is questioned

NOW: A federal judge in DC has *denied* motions for temporary restraining orders in litigation over the government shutdown. Federal workers had sought immediate orders to either enable them to get paid for working now, or give them a choice about whether to work without pay
Judge Richard Leon said he empathized with federal workers, but said the court wasn't just another source of leverage in a "squabble" between the other branches of government. The shutdown is a "political problem," Leon said
Leon said there were varying likelihoods of success on the merits that deserved full briefing, and that the public interest (a factor in TRO analysis) weighed against immediate action now -- at best, he said, a TRO would cause "chaos and confusion," and could put lives at risk
