Today our office got to send a client home to his friends and family after nearly three years on Rikers following an acquittal in a Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child trial. Client faced a minimum of 12-Life if convicted.
We had a brave and thoughtful jury who looked beyond the awful accusations and demanded credible evidence of actual abuse; of which we believed there was none. False accusations of rape and child sex abuse can and do ruin lives. We continue to need a strong system of justice ...
...that will stand up to even the most heinous accusations and afford people due process and a fair trial when it matters most. Our client can’t get back the nearly three years he already lost; but his life is his own again and for that we are so incredibly grateful.
