THREAD: Most reporting on DFA's July 2019 Presidential Pulse Poll results that we released today will be focused on the current top-lines, there's a TON of fascinating info right beneath the surface.
Let's take a little time & chat about them.
First: the way the top-five candidates in our Presidential Pulse Polls have changed (& occasionally haven't) over time is fascinating.
@BernieSanders@ewarren@KamalaHarris The changing dynamics of progressive's top-5 in our July 2019, April 2019, and December 2018 Presidential Pulse Pols is more pronounced in this graph.
This means we can look at both head-to-head results & see who's leading the fight for "second choice" -- something really important in the iterative nomination contest.
Senator-Elects @ossoff and @ReverendWarnock's victory in GA is not only a beacon of hope during a dark week, it is a direct referendum on the institutions of white nationalism and authoritarianism that Donald Trump and his supporters have tried to reinforce in this country. (1/5)
Joy is an act of political resistance, and we will not allow our joy over this trailblazing victory to be stolen by the violent and incendiary actions of Donald Trump and his enablers. (2/5)
We are so grateful for Georgians who showed up and voted & and we salute all the volunteers, organizers & activists who worked on the ground, on Zoom and via text to get out the vote for @ReverendWarnock and @ossoff and turn GA blue yet again! (3/5)
We celebrate the truly #HISTORIC number of #women and #POC running for office in 2018, but we also refuse to ignore the volume & range of explicit and implicit #racist attacks almost every single candidate of color has faced in this election. That's also #WhiteSupremacy in action
Let's be clear: #POC running for elected office have ALWAYS faced hurdles to victory defined by the strength of #StructuralRacism and our country's long-standing culture of #WhiteSupremacy. But 2018 has taken it to a new level.
