Following the 9/11 attacks, the US government took an aggressive stance toward preventing and punishing acts of Islamist-inspired violence inside US borders, defining it as "international terrorism."

In contrast, there is no domestic terrorism statute.
Cases involving white supremacists are typically not prosecuted in US federal courts under terrorism statutes because they don't involve "foreign terrorist organizations."

They often land in state courts, becoming drug, fraud or murder cases.

There's been a lot of confusing talk about Puerto Rico Governor Rosselló being a Democrat. But this betrays a lack of knowledge about PR politics.

PR politics turns on the "status question"—the relationship between the Island and the United States.

1/
No one runs for office in Puerto Rico on the Democratic or Republican ticket. No one. Period.

There are several local parties. The two principal ones are the New Progressive Party (PNP in Spanish) and the Popular Democratic Party (PPD).

2/
The PNP is generally a right to center-right party, socially conservative and pro-business.

But the raison d'être of the PNP is promoting the admission of PR as a US state ("statehood").

This is Governor Rosselló's party.

Been tough to file from the massive protest against Gov. @ricardorossello of Puerto Rico today. But Old San Juan is still teeming, at this hour, with people and their flags and chants, everywhere you look
You really need a view from high up like this one to start to get a sense of the many thousands of people protesting
