An ideology killed those people in El Paso. And Ohio. And at the Garlic Festival. And the Synagogues, Churches and Mosques. It is the ideology of donnie. And mitch. And lynsie, and they wear it on their lapels like some Americans wear flagpins.
They have armed their followers with the rotgut of hatred and the deification of all the instruments of death the nra can sell. They have declared war on diversity as though it was pearl harbor. Their thoughts and prayers are a slap in the face to anyone who cherishes humility.
In our desperation to make it stop we try to legislate. But one cannot legislate away an ideology. All one can do is stand up to it. Look at it in its face and make sure the haters never ever get to raise their hands and lie on a Bible as they swear to protect our constitution.
