Can't wait for more lies about "we fought the Revolution to keep the right to bear arms" made by the same people who think 2-3 rounds/minute from a musket is the same as semi-auto rifle fire with high-capacity mags.

Willful delusion.
Arms had so little to do with it. Had to do with the rights of British citizens: see, the Intolerable Acts, Quebec Act.

Once Boston was occupied & the MA Militia activated, gunpowder was key, not arms. They had plenty of crappy muskets (not enough bayonets) but not much powder
When CPT Parker put his militia company on Lexington Green, it wasn't to protect their muskets - it was to preserve order from British incursions

And Pitcairn didn't say "turn over your weapons." He said "disperse, ye rebels"
Rights as citizens were what was important - right to self government without foreign interference. Right to trial by jury of peers in own community. Right to free pursuit of commerce.
And to get ahead of the arguments:
1) No such thing as a Constitutional or Federal militia; that is enumerated to the States, where;
2) The unorganized militia falls under the purview of that State's Adjutant General & can only be activated under official auspices.
