People in their 20s in the North East are earning more and are more likely to be in work than their predecessors 15 years before were at the same age. But young people in London & South East are earning less than their predecessors. Regional pay gaps have narrowed as a result...
Less positively, and despite record levels of employment nationally, young people in the West Midlands and Yorkshire & the Humber are less likely to be in work today than the generation born 15 years before them were at the same age.
While the labour market picture is mixed, young people have had a near-uniformly bad experience when it comes to housing. Home ownership rates have tumbled in every part of the UK. Recent figures suggest that this decades-long fall may at last be bottoming out though.
And finally, millennials nearly everywhere are spending a larger share of their income on housing. Young adults in London are by far the worst off.
