These are things that can be proven (or disproven) with documentary, b/w evidence. The moment that these questions were raised was the moment that attention was turned to allegations that, while extremely serious and relevant, are much less easily proved.
What would be easier to spin to your advantage? Decades-old memories where underaged drinking is involved, or documents produced from a forensic audit? Especially when you’ve already been able to squeak someone through who also had credible allegations against them?
This is not a judgement on credibility of any victims but rather a tactical observation, taking into account that we’re in the middle of an asymmetric psy-op war, where one side has accepted help from the enemy.
