Trailer for "Dark Waters" movie about DuPont, C8, Parkersburg and pollution is getting a lot of attention:

Worth noting that the guy Mark Ruffalo plays - Rob Bilott, the lawyer who took on DuPont for the people - has a book coming out this fall as well.

It's amazing to watch the attention PFAS issues are finally getting. It's been a long time coming.
This was, I think, the first story I ever wrote about the issue. It was 17 years ago:

That March 2001 letter that Rob Bilott wrote to @EPA is still one of the most amazing pieces of paper I've read

@EPA It's something else to know, all these years later, finally see the heads of DuPont and these other companies face questioning in public about what was done in places like Parkersburg

@EPA We see a lot of criticism in West Virginia of citizen groups (and newspapers) that dare to try to talk about these things, to warn, to inform...
@EPA We heard a lot of that all those years ago about DuPont and C8, too. Lots of pressure from powerful people and institutions.
@EPA Looks like "Dark Waters" will show us more - and his book does, too -- of the similar pressures Rob Bilott faced in trying to search for and reveal the truth about this.
@EPA Lots of lessons West Virginia could learn year, not the least of them being power doesn't give up power without a fight. And dismissing the concerns about public health and safety, pollution, worker safety and health ... maybe that's not the best way forward.
@EPA ... Not if we want a future that isn't just made up of repeating the same old mistakes.
@EPA Last thought: Of course, another lesson is that West Virginia journalists and commentators should look with more scrutiny at the claims by those who fear "overreach" by regulators, and believe our state will thrive if we just roll back rules to protect air, water, land, people.
