also worth noting that, for as novel as being able to play Switch vertically in handheld may be, there aren't a ton of new STGs that support that option—all the ones I listed are horizontal or vertical with a square-ish resolution & no tate mode

I see this is picking up again for whatever reason so, addendum: I was a little presumptuous about Devil Engine being on PS4, it didn't come out there due to publisher drama and the developers also aren't getting paid for the Switch/PC versions due to said drama, so sit tight

you can still buy it if you want but there's no knowing if or when the devs will be compensated at this stage, and they've been telling people not to pay for their game until the publisher dispute is settled, so give it some thought

for further context, accusations made against the publisher, which had to be archived due to publisher-induced takedowns, and which have since led to the resignation of key figures at the publisher. they're long reads but worth it
