This tweet is a snapshot of how "liddle" the people around Donald are willing to risk his ire by telling him he is wrong or making a mistake right now.
I can.

He thinks putting an apostrophe there signals that it's an informal slangy spelling. Probably thinking of "Li'l Abner" and the like. He's putting it at the end because he's not sure what to do with it, with no letters skipped...

...but he doesn't know that's what it's for, just that it looks wrong when he positions it in the interior.

He may even have convinced himself that "Liddle'" is the correct spelling of "Li'l".

And he said hyphen but meant apostrophe.
You're speculating causes. I'm deciphering what he means, because someone asked. It isn't word salad. He is fractally wrong, but there is meaning there and it makes perfect sense from his point of view.

Now, in his mind, CNN calling "liddle" a misspelling of "little" is not descriptive explanation but base disparagement and a smear upon his character. He said "liddle'" and he knows how "liddle'" is spelled. He put the "hyphen" there to show it, and they took it out on purpose.
Right?

It reminds me of the first time he took over the press briefing from Spicer and went out and rambled incoherently then said "and that's how it's done."

Him being his own best advocate is the most cherished myth of his self-image...

... and the ability and inclination of anyone around him to stop him from making a fool out of himself, to redirect him or offer correction or insert themselves into the process to improve the end result or save him face, it all changes inversely to his wrath.
He would rather you think he's a criminal than think he made a foolish and embarrassing mistake.

This is his genuine character. Is it distracting? Sure. Does he know how to use distractions to how advantage? He has to, because he keeps making them.

But this tweet of how isn't strategic, it doesn't ultimately help him, and the time you and I and people on Twitter spend talking about it doesn't affect the course of impeachment.
So to return to my first tweet: remember the toilet paper on his shoe? People went "where's his bodyman? Did no one check him before he went out? No one said anything?"

No one said anything because no one wanted to be the one who had told him he had toilet paper on his shoe.
Donald Trump doesn't like to be corrected in the best of situations, but when things aren't *bad* people will still step up to keep him from embarrassing himself... take one for the team so that his mood doesn't sour and things don't *get* bad.
But when things are already bad, no one wants to become the villain in his mind, a target for how pent-up rage, so they let him show his whole backside.
Anybody who is in a position to offer a correction or just go "maybe don't" right now already tried to get him to not release the transcript, and is likely smarting from his response.

No one is going to brush the metaphorical crumbs off his shirt for him right now.
