No matter what else is going on, we don't take our eyes off judicial nominations. And the nomination of Steven Menashi to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals has particular significance for @NAACP_LDF . Our founder, Thurgood Marshall, was nominated for that seat in 1961.
@NAACP_LDF Last wk we submitted a ltr to Senate leadership opposing the confirmation of Menashi. Our opposition is based on his appalling record of stmnts & actions that are contrary to the principles of equality & justice every fed judge shld embrace, & to which Marshall devoted his career
@NAACP_LDF You can read our letter opposing Menashi, which includes a detailed account of his troubling racist, anti- LGBT, and Islamaphobic writings & comments & his anti-civil rts work in the Trump administration here: naacpldf.org/wp-content/upl…
@NAACP_LDF Make sure you set aside time tomorrow to call your Senators and tell them your views about the nomination of Steven Menashi to the federal circuit court. 202-224-3121.
