I was good friends with a huge Dolphins fan, we’ll call him Jimmy. He knew how the phins reacted and responded in every situation. Knew how they matched up with every team. He probably won upwards of 70% of his Dolphins bets over the 2 decades I knew him.

Jimmy never made a dime. He took his Dolphins play along with 7 or 8 others that day. He bet just because games were on. His other bets he needed action on drowned out any profits he would have made. His Dolphins bet won but his Giants, Falcons and 9ers bets lost.
I can attest to the fact he would have made tens, possibly hundreds of thousands if he stuck with what he knew. He didn't have the discipline or restraint to. Jimmy bet for the thrill, the possibility of a sweep or hitting a big parlay. It cost him every penny he ever made.
