Interesting thing happened today while I was jogging.

Today I ran a different route and as I ran up and down Hwy 29, and while I stopped to take a breath at 2 miles, this older White lady stopped at the light and yelled “Wes Bellamy, leave my statues alone you nigger!” (hard ER)

I was kind of startled, and just yelled back “You Mad” like Cam’Ron did in the Geraldo interview lol.

But in all seriousness, I’m not even surprised anymore. My family and I get death threats and hate mail every week. It’s par for the course at this point...

After I finished running I went and hit the weights and then swam and I replayed the event and thought about the past couple of days.

The @VaFilmFest premiered Harriet last night and it was great. But most people got to just leave and go home and be removed from race at the end.

A lot of people in Charlottesville believe that the situation w/the statues and the Unite the Right Rally and all of this talk about Equity are kind of one offs. The Movie Premier had over 500 people there.. I wonder how many believe the ideology of yesteryear still exists?

I tweeted about this briefly last night, but movies like Harriet, 12 Years a Slave, and series like “When They See Us” are painful to watch. Our trauma is often seen as entertainment/education for others.

A lot of people don’t understand that we STILL live these experiences.

We still live with the micro aggressions that come from white supremacy. We still live with people who openly call us Nigger, we still live w/ a society who sees us as no more than property and those of us who are doing well better learn to stay in our place..

In the eyes of some... there is very little difference in how they believe Black people should be treated. For some, they are overt and blatant w/their beliefs. But for the majority, a lot of people have learned to be more covert and strategic w/their bias,prejudice, and racism.
