I’m mad that when I went to the gym late last night a man stopped by my treadmill directly in front and asked me why I looked so mad. I was running. I turned my head to get him to leave so he yelled that I was pretty and asked if I had a man.
Why is this the fourth time a man has asked me “why do you look so mad” when I was running or working out. I don’t get it. Do y’all be smiling, ladies? Am I not working out right?
Please stop being weird at the gym.

I’m realizing that something socialists and prison abolitionists have in common is a desperate belief in the innate good in people, or the belief that people can change with enough encouragement. I believe hella people are not innately good, not capable of change, & greedy
I was reading some literature about restorative justice (still tryna be convinced on the abolitionist front) and a recurring theme is “making people admit” and “acknowledging that something happened” so ppl can be held accountable and it’s still not clicking for me
In what universe is a sadistic child rapist going to ask for accountability? In what universe do we help him change and trust him to walk the streets?

I used to write erotica and urban fiction in a single subject notebook and pass it around to my peers in middle school and early high school and I’m bout to get back to my roots
My moms friend was a big urban writer in the early 2000s (your moms and aunties know him) and I gave him one of my stories and it was too grown so he said he’d help me publish if I wrote something for kids my age but my brain didn’t work that way so I never did it💀
at some point I got more into writing non-fiction and erotica/romance/urban fell by the wayside bc of my intellectual pursuits. But I used to be good at those genres of writing and I have some stories to tell

Late last night, I saw a headline out of South Carolina that former VP/current Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden had been denied communion at Mass on Sunday. I sighed and hoped (in vain) that it wouldn't get much notice.

Since it has, a mini-thread with a few thoughts:
1/ I'm not going to get into an exploration of sacramental theology or the application of canon law. There are fundamental, sustained differences of opinion about whom Jesus would want at the table and how persistent sin/scandal should/should not be addressed, re: the Eucharist
2/ I presume the best of intentions and sincerity on the part of the priest who made this pastoral decision (even if, full disclosure: I disagree with it) and on the part of Biden, whom I believe to be as devoted a Catholic as any public servant in my lifetime

Late last night I got a call from son of a detainee in Assam. Crying he told me that his name as well as that of his other family members have been removed from the NRC.
Let me tell you why this happened.
Since November the practice that has been prevalent in SC is that most
fresh matters against the FT orders were being admitted only if one or the other family members or the name of the petitioner himself was included in NRC. All the matters were tagged together and after a very very brief hearing SC passed it's judgment. That judgment paved way for
deletion of names of family members include in NRC. Around 1 lac more have been excluded. So now because the NRC number was readily available, the name of family members who found mentioned in NRC after tracing their lineage through family tree mechanism were also removed.
