#SupremeCourt starts hearing #DelhiPollution case, observas #Delhi is choking while the #Delhi Govt and Centre is simply passing the buck to each other.
"People aren't safe even inside their houses rooms. This can't happen in a civilised country. Why are people still burning stubble? And the Govt doesn't do anything about it," remarks Justice Arun Mishra.

"We will call all those responsible here and settle now. We have to now look at the long term solutions," says the bench.

"It is a tort and all officials, to the level of gram pradhans, should be held accountable. We must do something now..what's the administration left in #Punjab, #Haryana," adds the court.

"State governments are responsible. All of them...they are interested only in electioneering. State governments are making mockery of everything. We are going to hold them responsible now..from top to the bottom," says SC. It calls some experts, will take up after 30 min now.
#SupremeCourt resumes hearing on #DelhiPollution. Joint Secretary in the MoEF shows up as SC asks her what are the immediate steps taken to improve the situation.
"Issuing directions to chief secretaries isn't enough. We want some concrete measures for immediate relief," SC tells Jt Secretary. It adds Gram pradhans should be removed, penalised if they can't stop stubble burning.

According to the Central Govt, 4 districts in Punjab contribute to 47 per cent of the total crop stubble burning. It tells the #SupremeCourt these districts include Patiala, Tarn Taran and Sangrur.

SC summons chief secretaries of Punjab, Haryana and UP to show up on Wednesday. Police departments and local administrations in all states ordered to ensure not even a single incident of crop stubble burning takes place.

Chief secretaries, police commissioners and all other officials shall be held personally responsible if any incident of stubble burning takes place in #Punjab, #Haryana and #UttarPradesh. States to also explain why should they not compensate for failing to contain the menace.
No construction or demolition activities in Delhi-NCR till further orders, says SC making officials personally accountable in case of any failure.
"Let all the industries which aren't necessary remain shut for the time being," adds SC.

Of 527 pages on acquittal of Tarun Tejpal, #Goa judge Kshama M Joshi has used around 400 pages, dissecting testimony of the complainant in arriving at how an 'educated journalist' should've known whether she 'pulled up' her underwear or 'picked up'.
Goa court scans the complainant's phone & messages to note that "it was entirely the norm" for her to have flirtatious relationships & sexual conversations with friends & acquaintances.
Since she refused to give access to her email citing concerns of privacy when her phone details had already been used to humiliate her over her personal details, #Goa judge holds that she "wants to hide something."

#SupremeCourt commences hearing of its suo motu proceedings on ameliorating the conditions of migrant workers during the #COVID19 induced #lockdown.

It expresses displeasure at Centre not submitting its affidavit in time.
"You were directed to file your affidavit a day before the hearing but you have done it just now. Our orders are meant to be compiled with," SC tells Centre.

Adv Prashant Bhushan, appearing on behalf of some activists, addresses the shortcomings in replies filed by states.
SC clarifies it hasn't directed states to grant cash transfer in lieu of dry ration after Bhushan mentions that court also wanted to know about cash transfers.

As he talks about cooked food, SC observes the situation doesn't appear to be as grave as last year for migrant workers
