PSA just because there might be an actual coup happening doesn't mean the Grayzone gang are good. They'd call a mass strike a coup if the target had said something mildly critical about the US once.
Since massive protests in Iran have just erupted against a big fuel hike, a reminder what the Grayzone Gang said about similar protests last time.

Just realised not everyone will be familiar with the members of the Grayzone gang: Ben Norton, Max Blumenthal, Rhania Khalek, Ajit Singh, Aaron Mate.
Nearly forgot Dan Cohen who has handily provided an example of just how unreliable this lot are. Now we don't claim to be perfect and often make mistakes, but we're doing this in between day jobs and childcare, not as full-timers, and we try to correct if we fuck up.
For some background, a lot of people are very interested in Jhanisse Vaca Daza, who's been on international TV a fair bit as an anti-Morales NGO-activist but is also an employee of the 'Human Rights Foundation'. Long but revealing interview here.
Now Daza comes across as, at best, a naiive NGO-liberal obsessed with constitutional integrity and ignoring the political content (and indeed constitutional jeopardy) of this week's events. But Dan Cohen's found the smoking gun, sympathies with Hitler!!

What video is this? Well the actual Youtube video has been removed, but it's very obviously a Downfall parody about SOPA - the tweet is even hashtagged about SOPA. Hitler: no memesHitler: Sony can make me take down a videoHitler: first the US supreme court declares corporations peopleYou could get five years in jail for linking to a clip of Colbert
Has Cohen apologised or issued a retraction? Of course not. Instead he was arguing to Patrick Henningsen (himself owner of conspiracist website 21st century wire) that no further information was needed. Cohen arguing with Henningsen screenshot
More on Henningsen, and indeed some of the Grayzone gang, in this article.

If some of that seems a bit meta, think about the rhetorical effects of the completely ahistorical shit he comes up with against protest tactics, armed self-defense, covering faces etc.

Lasers in Hong Kong? Must be supplied by the CIA like they were in Nicaragua.

Lasers in Chile, quietly ignored because Norton supports those protests and already used the laser line to attack protests elsewhere. Norton: gas masks and lasers in Hong Kong are equipment US supplies to 'moderate rebels'Norton: US backed protesters in Hong Kong shining lasers in eyes of the policeTweet from @mooncuot. protesters bring down police drone with lasersNorton supporting Chile protests.
