Don Cherry got fired today, about 20 years too late. What he said on air last Saturday justified his dismissal, but it was certainly not a isolated incident.

How about when he called Olympic gold medalist Jean-Luc Brassard a "French Guy, some skier nobody knows about" on the air, because he didn't like that he was Canada's flag-bearer (couldn't find a link for this one).
A broadcasting pet peeve: Cherry refuses to wear an earpiece. It's often framed as a shtick, but Ron essentially has to corral him because he can't listen to a producer and talk at the same time. They literally designed the show around his incompetence.

Did you know that, when he co-owned the Mississauga IceDogs he refused to put European players on his team? He eventually caved after the team won SIXTEEN games in THREE FULL SEASONS.

To close: while it is encouraging that Cherry got fired, the fact that he had such an enormous platform for this long is shameful for both CBC and Sportsnet. His most recent comments are neither surprising or out of character.

On the topic of political bias at Google, I have decided to publish the following email I received from another Google employee in July of 2017. (For privacy reasons, parts have been redacted, including the employee's identity.) The contents of this email speak for itself.
Multiple incidents, multiple concerns, and many conversations have driven my decision to publish this email, and here, this incident serves as a good representative example. It is certainly not an isolated incident, and others have had similar experiences.
In these situations, one should first make a reasonable attempt to resolve such matters internally. In both this case and other cases, I have made a good faith attempt to do that. However, those attempts did not resolve my concerns, which led me to my current course of action.

Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
