The state did away with our original tribes & nations long ago & now deceitfully presumes to take their place as a powerful means of enslaving us all - rich & poor alike - to #TheMatrix of state & capital.
If you are well served by the Matrix of state & capital, as everyone who is anyone in society generally is, then you would probably take the attitude Cypher did in the film, if you were red pilled & became aware of it, but of course, very few - if any - are aware of it.
Comparing society to the Matrix is just an analogy, of course. Not perfect, but very useful, I think, for helping us understand our situation, which is dire, our civilisation being on course to self-destruct in the decades ahead.
Another, perhaps better, analogy is to compare the state with Orwell's Big Brother, which, thanks to doublethink, again, very few people recognise. Liberal Democracy, we are assured by academics, is the opposite of Big Brother, but as his minions, & employees, they are deceived.
Evolved human nature is tribal. Thus our inherent need for a sense of tribal or national belonging, which the "nation state", i.e. Big Brother, deceitfully lays claim to, manipulates, exploits & abuses.
Thus the existential need for an alternative, which we have to create: peacefully & grassroots-democratically, within the legal framework of the existing state, which must continue to enforce the rule of law & none violence, but stop posing as a nation itself.
If we are unite & prevent our civilisation's fall, we must first divide into genuine nations, into what I call, "nation races", which will sub-divide into tribes & sub-tribes. With every individual free to decide where they belong & free to change their mind.
This is a very radical (many will say fanciful) idea, but I beg you to consider it, because I can see no other way for us to unite & prevent our civilisation from destroying itself, along with much of our planet's biodiversity.
