Ultimately it is #SocialScienceAcademia, like a modern, secular, universal church, imposing the Orwellian ideology of post-racial multiculturalism & DIVERSITY on society, which its clergy (1000s of ordinary academics) are also beholden to, for employment & advancement. @epkaufm
It would be very useful to know the identity of the #POPESofDIVERSITY, i.e. those senior, authoritative, academics (living & dead) who are absolutely committed to their ideology, so that we don't waste time trying to reason with them, but focus our attention on the less dogmatic.
The social sciences are where they are, which is trapped in a pre-Darwinian dark age. All that matters is getting them to emerge from this dark age as quickly as possible, so that they can be a help, rather than a hindrance, in solving our civilisation's existential problems.
I postulate that the original #POPESofDIVERSITY were largely Jewish academics who had been traumatised (directly or indirectly) by Nazi persecution & the Holocaust. They were motivated by a passionate sense of "never again", but also by their trauma, which misguided them.
It misguided them into demonising & seeking the suppression of human tribalism & prejudices, which the state & its minions quickly exploited as an instrument of socio-political intimidation & control.
What academics should be doing is developing an understanding of human tribalism & prejudices, so that we can learn to work WITH them in a rational & civilised fashion. Demonising, suppressing & exploiting them can only backfire &/or create an Orwellian nightmare.
In fact, it HAS already created an Orwellian nightmare. We ARE virtually all anti-fascists & anti-racists in the original meaning of these words, but that is not enough for today's anti-fascists & anti-racists, who demand we embrace the Orwellian ideology of DIVERSITY.
