What @ddayen notes is Warren has to rebuild trust. Her advisors do not understand the cost of her endorsing Clinton in 2016. They think it's obvious she's not part of the establishment, after all they've been fighting Geithner for years. It is not obvious.
@ddayen I watched @krystalball offer a fairly brutal take down of Warren this morning on The Hill's Rising, and while I don't agree with Ball's analysis, what she argued was entirely plausible. There is a trust deficit. I trust Warren and it's not really her fault, but life's not fair.
@ddayen @krystalball Because Democrats love Obama and don't want any criticism of him, but they also hate everything he did and want something totally different. They *want* to be lied to. Warren is dealing with voters who want to be conned.
@ddayen @krystalball Bernie supporters really need to start internalizing the very real problem that Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg have a lot of support and they are both fantastically corrupt. Democrats want to be lied to. This is a real political problem and it's not a few donors or people in DC.
@ddayen @krystalball This is exactly right. Warren didn't read the code properly. She didn't get that Democratic voters and progressives have all sorts of weird passive aggressive ways to communicate.
