1. Wisconsin could play a decisive role in 2020.

Trump beat Clinton by 23K votes (out of 3M cast) in 2016.

Now, a right-wing advocacy group has convinced a judge to immediately purge 200K voters from the rolls.

It sounds bad.

They did this in 2017 with a 30 day time period to respond.

But the process kicked TENS OF THOUSANDS OF ELIGIBLE VOTERS OFF THE ROLLS

They would wait until 2021

There is absentee voting in all 50 states. In 33 states, you can vote absentee for any reason

Former Cognizant employees tell me most moderators had little to no political knowledge.

It's amazing how little public discussion there is over massive increases in military spending

Congress added another $70+ billion for "overseas campaigns." The authorization for these wars is NEARLY TWO DECADES OLD.

But Congress refuses to sunset the authorizations.

People get really mad at you when you misrepresent their views. In politics, it's a bad idea to misrepresent the views of people whose support you're going to need later. I wish Pete Buttigieg would learn this lesson, but sadly he seems determined not to. Thread:
Here's the most recent example. Buttigieg complains about Warren demanding he stop fundraisers with rich donors, calls it a "purity test." All fair. But then he says: “The thing about these purity tests is the people issuing them can’t even meet them.” washingtonpost.com/politics/pete-…
He's talking about Warren doing high-dollar fundraisers in her Senate race last year. Also a fair criticism. But in doing so, he misrepresents her position. She's not attacking him for having done fundraisers in the past; she's attacking him for doing them RIGHT NOW.

One of the perverse realities of American politics since the Southern Strategy is how black voters, unions and groups like Planned Parenthood keep getting lumped into “the Establishment” or “the system” by certain parts of the left. /1
The Southern Strategy moved a lot of white people, and especially white men, into the GOP. A direct result of all that white flight (which took decades) is that the Democratic Party, as an establishment, is disproportionately black- and woman-powered. Never more so than now. /2
And that influence is probably at its greatest and most visible in the primaries, when the base gets to vote amongst themselves.

Meaning, in the primaries, reliable Democratic *voters* are a huge part of the Democratic “establishment”. /3

one of the most interesting things about warren's student loan/free college plan is its specific focus on racial inequality
it's a good example of the "targeted universalism" approach, setting a universal goal—"debt free higher education"—but using solutions attuned to how inequality and disadvantage strike different groups in different ways.
what's key is that other than HBCU fund, none of this is targeted at "black people." rather, it's targeted at conditions that disproportionately effect black people, but which also harm others too. so it's "universal" but universal in a way that directly touches racial inequality
