My God: you're right! But you deploy during the day, even though I happen to know you go home and sleep EVERY NIGHT. Why do you only give a shit about people's rest on weekends???
I am just so mystified by these magical systems that so many seem to run, where bugs never turn up in hours (deploy-0..36)*, but pummel the shit out of them in hours 36..60.

*nobody ever seems to object to Thursday deploys?
Look, as I've said a million times: freeze deploys on Friday all you want, if you can afford the velocity, just --

🌷DO IT BY BLOCKING MERGES.🌷

Merging a changeset and going live should feel like an atomic operation. It should be swift, automatic -- default.
Breaking this atomic operation up and adding delays and other manual bullshit is what will fuck you.

Like, letting multiple change sets pile up and rot all weekend or holiday. Then deploying them -- not cleanly, one artifact per merge at a time, but in one glommed monstrosity.
Meanwhile, your engineers have mentally crossed this diff off their list and swapped context out for the next thing. They certainly aren't sitting there eagerly watching for the new instrumentation to go live so they can validate in prod.
What would be the point, when so many other changes are going live at the same time? Nothing more frustrating than painstakingly tracking down a problem to something someone else did at the same time.

Changes. One at a time. Go live by default, asap after merge.
Do that, and you can block merges whenever the hell you feel you must -- with my blessing.

Your velocity is your business. My interest is in getting you to stop hurting your engineers and your own stated goals. Thanks ✌️
