This week I’ve been in an employment tribunal where a Muslim academic at @UniversityLeeds is bringing multiple claims of race and religious discrimination against the University. It has been astounding so far hearing the processes of exclusion, racial governance & undermining 🧵
Two of the claimants initial claims that were dropped due to being out of time included that the Claimant’s module “Global Jihad” was referred to the PREVENT programme because he and his Muslim colleagues were not trusted to report their students for risk of radicalisation
Interestingly the academics who curated the course had taught the “Global Jihad” module for 5 yrs to the government’s OWN Ministry of Defence… clearly influenced by self-surveillance & pressure to prove themselves against racialisation…but makes the PREVENT referral even wilder

Decide beforehand if you want to play safe or adventurously. For those who like to play the odds there is the #classic bet which pays off 35-1 if you can guess the next number. The split bet is when you select 2 numbers so your #rewards are less,
mpogacor.thinkific.com/courses/take/m… only 17-1 if you can guess the correct number. For those who like to play it cautiously there are the outside bets where you bet the ball will land on red or black or odd verses even and in accordance the payoff is 1-1. Lower risk so lower rewards.
leetchi.com/c/mpogacor You need to be able to walk away, in other words know when it is time to quit. For instance if you have been loosing consistently, for the last ten minutes, then it is time to take a breath of air and leave the table.

1/🧵🎥 MAJOR TIPS about #Liver Disease

Why do we ask pts to “hold up traffic”? When people get severe liver disease, “asterixis” is a finding on exam we often see.

What does it mean?

#MedTwitter #NurseTwitter #TipsforNewDocs #Addiction
2/ Asterixis indicates that toxins like ammonia have built up in the body because the scarred liver no longer filters them out. The brain cells no long function normally (#Delirium or Hepatic #Encephalopathy) & can no longer control muscle movements like posture!
3/ These same toxin cause vessels to dilate and develop problems with blood flow in the skin and lungs. A skin finding is called “spiders.” They look like a multi-legged spider, right? It’s a tip-off.

Hi #twitterstorians! This is the second installment on #Srinivas. Today we focus on his concept of #sanskritization
which was key in the development of Indian #anthropology and #sociology. This is part of our history of concepts. @UoMhistdept @LeedsUniHistory @CSMCH_Edin #AHRC
#Srinivas coined the term #sanskritization in the late 1940s and early 1950s while researching the Coorgs of South India. #Sankritization was used as a way to explain how certain groups like the Lingayats of Karnataka had move up in a caste structure that was supposed to be fixed Image
The main idea behind #sanskritization is that lower castes groups imitate and adopt Sanskritic culture and values. Along with economic and political power, eventually, #sanskritization would translate into ritual power too. This would make lower caste groups to move up socially

In a series of tweets, will share some rare clippings of #JagjitSingh Sb. in a private mehfil in 1976. Originally recorded on audiotapes, arbitrary ripping and multiple conversions thereafter, has made the quality not very fine; use of headphone advisable.
Apologies, couldn't post them here due to some constraint. It's available for a limited time; hear, love, listen as early as possible. A humble request, listen to them completely, for there are some extempore comments you would love to listen.

PS: Some of them contains humour.
Starting with some Punjabi humour in #JagjitSingh’s style.
Enjoy! 😊

A special symposium #EvoDevo19 honored Dr. Günter Wagner for his leadership & service to our profession, especially as Journal of Experimental Zoology editor-in-chief . To show our appreciate of his contributions to #evodevo, here are some books & papers we like!
Landmark paper with Lee Altenberg in 1996 in Evolution is a must read!

FYI, Laura Nuño de la Rosa used a co-citation analysis to show that Wagner & Altenberg (1996), Houle (1992), and Kirschner & Gerhart (1998), were the three key papers that made "evolvability" into a "true research front"

(THREAD) When my son was in Gr 10 he brough home, To Kill a Mockingbird. I was angry -my child, was reading a text of a past romanticized by some, even tho it was riddled with #racism. I wondered how many texts he would read that looked like him. But he had to read that- why?
I had asked many times for a reading list of books theyd have in their English class. I asked if the texts looked like them, reflected their experiences bc #IdentityMatters. I never could get an answer. Replies included, it was a #Classic but y'all know #Classics aint #Neutral
Of course, the response when we have these convos - "Y'all want to Censor...". Funny how "#freeSpeech" and "#censorship" always come up when issues of #equity are being discussed. That our children shouldn't be exposed to #racism and #trauma they live EVERY. SINGLE. DAY

#365photochallenge
I´ll say it also in English :)
I´m gonna try a photography 365 project, but instead of taking photos, processing old random photos of mine...
Only one rule: the square format.
Let´s see what I got, which will be directly affected by the mood of the day...

#Venus has strong associations with bubbles, because they bring joy, pleasure, and excitement, and are frequently used to mark happy occasions.
They are a literal representation of #effervescence, which is a #Venusian feature, and are often paired with #sugar (ruled by Venus), as in #soda, or used in #alcoholic beverages, which reduce social inhibitions and can stir the libidinal instincts.
For those reasons, #Venus is associated with #champagne, mineral water, and #bubbly drinks of all variety. They, along with #greentea, make great Venus #offerings.
