This is part 3 of the ض series, which I’ve appropriately titled: Ḍād-y issues (you know I had to). In this thread, I will discuss possible reasons of how and why the ض of the traditional Tajwīd tradition became corrupted.
Whatever I present in this particular thread is not all meant to be conclusive proof, as I currently lack the resources to undertake such an extensive project, but simply theories (good ones imo). I hope these theories can be explored in more depth in the future. Let’s dive in!
I established in the previous thread that scholars for centuries were pretty much all on the same page regarding ض/ ظ similarity. Considering the disparity between the classical and modern descriptions, surely you’d expect records of sound shifts occurring, right? Yes, kind of!

I'm going to make a wish that I have made here before, but this time I'm gonna address it directly to @DAVID_LYNCH & @mfrost11: if the idea of a 4th season of @SHO_TwinPeaks is too daunting, consider making XMAS IN TWIN PEAKS, a holiday special, set in Whatever Year This Is.
Another 18 hours seems like it would be too much, right? I can't believe you guys did it for S3! So I'm guessing the thought of another full season would be exhausting, maybe? But to never return to Twin Peaks is also sad, yes?
