i think a lot about how hobbies very frequently require an enormous amount of capital expenditure to even get started and how frustrating it can be
@profanegeometry i have to imagine that your hobby took you like a year of buying bits and pieces, power supplies, pumps, flanges, caps, each one a significant chunk of money but useless until you bought all the others
i keep thinking about how I'd like to do model train stuff but i need to buy rails, trains, models, foliage, foam, 350 types of paint, airbrush, special tape, lights,
machining! lathe, tool blanks, grinder, chucks, knurler, mill, mill tools, mill vise, fixtures, spacers, it's a neat thought but it's like $10k of investment if you're lucky and have a good local Craigslist
