LET US DISCUSS

It is always interesting to see new topics trending everyday. In one way or another, we all learn from such, especially when objectivity is placed ahead of selfishness and whims.

There is a very important concept that today we have left behind us.
However smart we are, or we think we are, we can't be smarter than the Prophet (SAW) & other prophets of Allah (SWT). These noble men have lived lives & have left meaningful teachings behind them. Do we take heed from what they have taught us, by speech & practice?
Let us be honest: How many fathers or mothers today sit their wards & speak to them about Allah, about the Prophet, about the Quran, about destiny (Qadr), about Ghayb (unseen) & so on? Are we not all busy with their 'education' with regards to this Dunya? Are we not all guilty?
Listen to this Hadith, of the Prophet (SAW), reported by Abdullah Ibn Abbas (RA): He said, I was behind the Prophet (SAW) & he said to me:

"Oh you little boy, LET ME TEACH YOU SOME WORDS: Obey the rules of Allah & He will protect you. Protect His dos & donts, He ll be with you.
And if you are to ask anything, ask from Allaah, & if you would need for help, seek only from Allah. Know that, if the entire world was to gather with the objective of benefitting you with a thing, they won't succeed to bring what Allaah Hasn't designed to be yours originally.
And know that, if the entire world was to gather in other to harm you, they won't succeed in harming you except with what Allaah Has originally designed to hurt you. The pens have been raised, & the inks on the papers have dried".

Imam Tirmidhi reported & said it is Hasan.
Take homes from this Hadith:

(a) The command from the Prophet (SAW) that Boy Abdullah Ibn Abbas (RA) should obey the rules of Allah, stay within the limits he has been commanded.

(b) The Prophet (SAW) taught the young Abdullah (RA) some delicate issues of Aqeedah.
The Prophet (SAW) taught Abdullah Ibn Abbas (RA) that nothing good or evil befalls him except what Allah (SWT) Has designed for him, & that as a basic concept, mankind can never benefit or harm him.

How many parent take their time to drive this lane with their children today?
Now, do we remember Prophet Luqman (AS) & his ten pieces of advice to his son?

Let us go through them again. He said:

1. "…O my son! Join not in worship others with God. Verily! Joining others in worship with God is a great wrong indeed." (Quran 31:13).

DO NOT COMMIT SHIRK!
Listen to how he often address his son, as "Oh my son!", with that loftness & love.

2. "And we have enjoined on man to be dutiful and good to his parents…" (Quran 31:14).

Here, he teaches the son that obeying parent is a duty enjoined by Allah (SWT).
Again, he taught his son that, nothing in this world is hidden from the knowledge of Allah.

3. "O my son! If it be (anything) equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed, and though it be in a rock, or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth…"(Quran 31:16)
Fourthly, he didn't hesitate to teach his son Salaat!

He said:

4. "O my son! Offer prayer perfectly…" (Quran 31:17).

With that loftness & love, he reminds his son about a major duty as a Muslim. He didn't speak to him about Math Class or Further Math Lesson.

SALAAT!
Knowing fully what the place of enjoining good & forbidding evil is, he didn't miss this point.

He said to his son:

5. "…enjoin on people all that is good and forbid them from all that is evil…" (Quran 31:17).

How many parent tell their kids this today?
Then he went straight to the virtue of patience!

Luqman said to his son:

6. "…and bear with patience whatever befalls you…" (Quran 31:17).

How golden this advice is! How many of us take our children through this beautiful lane? Patience is everything.
He then cautioned his son against arrogance & pride!

He said:

7. "And turn not your face away from men with pride…" (Quran 31:18).

8. "…nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allah likes not any arrogant boaster." (Quran 31:18).

DO we do such as Muslims?
Unfortunately, the reality of life today has pushed most parent to worrying less about the Islam of their kids. They neither send them to Islamic schools, or even if they do, many do not pay the attention they pay to the 'western' education of their kids. Whose fault is it?
When the Prophet (SAW) was admonishing Abdullahi Ibn Abbas (RA), or when Luqman (AS) was admonishing his son, were the people in those generations perfect? Were there no social ills at those moments? Did these noble men fail to do this because of that? Reality has beckon us.
We have to face the reality as it comes. We have to do what we have to do. When you fail to learn about the true message of Islam, you keep swimming in denial & sink deeper by the day. When we fail to accept the reality, we can't change it from happening.
