This reminds me of that time in college when I learned that there was a regulation establishing the maximum number of flies allowable in a bushel of raisins. The number was not zero.
[Pardon the intrusion of earnestness here]. Living in a modern society where we've outsourced food production to a small number of large-scale corporations means that we need systems of gov't regulation and oversight to protect consumers. Scale comes with vulnerability.
I'm lucky enough to live in an area there are many local producers like this whose farms I can visit & who I can feel more comfortable trusting. The food is more expensive, but if you have the means, I encourage you to support this alternative food chain. lonelylanefarms.com/wp/
