There needs to be a word for that feeling of dread one has when waiting on a train platform anticipating how busy it will be, knowing you probably won't get a seat and having nowhere to put your bags. It's definitely a core British value
Update: Some passengers couldn't on. There was a minor squabble beteren oncoming passenger who fought to get to her reserved seat even though reservations were cancelled. Of course she wasn't to know and there was no announcement as passengers got on. In fact to show that ...
@CrossCountryUK really have their priorities straight the announcement they made was for first class passengers who couldn't to their refreshments. Those in standard class could continue their free-for-all relying on rapidly diminishing goodwill and bonhomie
Earlier tweet was meant to say people couldn't get on at Tamworth. Surprisingly hard to type with less elbow room than a portaloo with heavy wallpaper
Rumours are flying about as to whether there is a functioning toilet. A brave woman sitting next to me could take it no longer, setting off down the packed aisle & towards the crowded vestibule. I haven't seen her since B'ham New Street. Have left her seat empty out of respect
Not all heroes wear capes. This tiny dog wearing a Christmas jumper is providing some much needed morale for those in the immediate six seat radius. Thanks tiny xmas dog
To add insult to actual injury (I count rage & anger as injuries) @CrossCountryUK have been victim blaming. They just announced that they'd have to close the doors due to the "sheer volume of passengers". No mention that the underlying reason is a lack of space. Pesky passengers
On the plus side, this terrible train journey has made me look forward to the rail replacement bus.
So close. Now we are all stuck outside the bus in the rain because the driver wont allow anyone to board until the new driver boards- at least that's the rumour. Light rain has increased to a dense drizzle
Nearing the end. On another full train from Bridgend to Swansea. At least there are Welsh accents to listen to
Anyway hope you all enjoyed the ride more than I did. You can all experience the same for the bargain price of £90!
