(1/3) A lot of people have a lot of frustration with getting rejected. Hard to take reports' substance seriously, and not get discouraged. So let me share some ref report quotes to me, when the below paper was rejected. End of story, now published in the freaking AEJ:Macro:
(2/3) Start of story, first journal: Rejection & "It absolutely baffles me why the author thinks that this paper is suitable for the [Journal]” & “Measuring the consumption response to economic stimulus payments is like flogging a dead horse.” Hope this ends up helping someone.
(3/3) So, yes, and I conclude (as part of my strategy of being too oblivious to insult) that it happens to everyone. So take every report's substantive comments on your work and on your exposition seriously, and get back up on that keyboard and don't let the reports get you down.
