I want to highlight this tweet b/c this is the major divide right now in pro-gun circles about Monday. The divide is, "which liberal myth about gun nuts are we trying to debunk with this?" Options are:

1. Gun nuts = violent wackos
2. Gun nuts = scared LARPers who only talk tough

The real bad thing about Monday, is that you can't debunk both of these myths at the same time. You have to pick one.

The Threepers, OathKeepers, VCDL & militia groups mostly want to debunk #1. But they're not the only ones showing up on Monday.

There are a lot of people, hard to tell how many, who are itching to debunk myth #2. And the ones who want to debunk #2 are kinda in the driver's seat, here. Everything hinges on how committed they are to that.

This dilemma around "is it really a deterrent if you never use it?" is one we have seen play out repeatedly recently with respect to Iran and DPRK. And now we're watching that same dynamic play out domestically in VA. It's wild.

I have just watched an OathKeepers ride-along vid that talks through these issues while showing everyone the barricades set up around Capitol Square. They're very much in the "let's debunk #1" camp, but they know & acknowledge that would-be debunkers of #2 will be there, too.

The OathKeeper vid is wild b/c it's "we're standing up militias, swearing guys in, training, & getting ready for the fight to come to us. We can't show up & fight them on their turf. This is a setup."

For whoever this guy is, the Boog is here. Like, we're in it already. It's on.

And I think even if the VA rally is largely peaceful with no blood spilled, all the LE/MIL hardware pouring in (photos r flying around), barricades, & urban warfare setup could well have sort of made the Boogaloo a present reality. It may immanentize the eschaton, so to speak.
