One is a fact ("$800") and the other is subjective, an opinion ("I feel what I paid was worth it").
People often conflate the two making a judgement for others on the latter without consideration.
Many have complained about its price, when what they mean is the perceived value. That's fair.
I can't tell you something is worth it - that's a very personal decision.
But you can argue on cost - simple comparisons between pricing.
I often hear an iPad Pro is cheaper than Pro X ergo, better, but it's just not true.
- iPad Pro 12.9 without LTE and 64GB is $999
- Pro X with LTE and 128GB is $999 ($899 on sale right now)
Keyboard pen?
- Apple: $329
- Microsoft: $270
- iPad Pro 12.9 with LTE and 256GB = $1,299
- Pro X with 256GB = $1,299 (on sale for $1,000)
Now, is Pro X worth it? I dunno. For me, yes. For you? 🤷♂️
It's bad in the lap, not a great KB, no trackpad/mouse support, it's tedious even to use Office...but it's great at other things! Which is why ppl own it *and* a laptop (and often travel with both).
But, for Windows users, it means not re-learning a new system, buying new apps, etc. That has value, which is why I can't/don't use an iPad.
Anyway, yes, some of this was in response to @backlon's article on the Verge yesterday, which I thought was really well done. But he's not alone either in thinking the Pro X is too expensive, which it probably is (all new tech is).
