And now I review the State of Serverless report, published by everyone's favorite Tinder For Pets company, @datadoghq.
You can read the whole thing yourself without a paywall or registration gate: datadoghq.com/state-of-serve…

It's reasonably well done, so let's cut to the chase and make with the funny snarky bits.
First, this is done from a basis of @datadoghq customers. So this is Lambda adoption *among companies who are willing to engage with a SaaS monitoring provider.*

And also are open to dating dogs.
If you're a "not gonna trust a third party with my monitoring" type, then you won't show up at all in this survey.
To their credit, they need to count five distinct Lambda functions invoked within a month, and they don't count their own Lambda log shipper. This is a great methodology.
They count EC2 usage as "over five instances" which just so happens to be where you exceed their free tier. One wonders.
I do wonder whether they're viewing Lamba adoption org-wide, or if their perspective is limited to individual AWS accounts. Large enterprises run everything, after all.
Their highlight of large enterprises driving adoption is both fascinating and inspired.
