Imagine being an advertiser that shows up on the very next tweet.

This is the scam of social media from @twitter to @Facebook to @YouTube. Monetize literally everyone’s voice, even the worst of society, when advertisers would never be seen even close to anywhere else.
This is the kind of person he is. How this platform could elevate him to @verified status is just unconscionable.

Just want to thank everyone in this incredible community for all of your hard work for the last year and, really, the last 3+.

For something that was supposed to be a 2 week experiment, this has turned into something incredibly significant.
Some big things have happened with Sleeping Giants this year, including finding out what happened with Breitbart after advertisers actually became aware of the site that they were inadvertently supporting.

Thanks to @aliklay & @TheBrinkFilm for this footage of Bannon, BTW!
Tucker Carlson continued to lose dozens of advertisers after the Sleeping Giants community asked them if they supported his comments on immigrants making our country “poorer and dirtier.”

Matt here. I bring this up often but today, it takes on even more significance.

This is a death threat to my teenage son from the Breitbart comment section listing the name, address and number of our synagogue. I asked @joelpollak for days to take it down. They waited for five.
Here are anti-Semitic comments about me and calls for attacks listing our address on The Daily Caller. These, too, were reported and they waited for 5 days to take them down, ensuring that I, and my family, would be subjected to maximum harassment or violence against us.
Looking at these comments on sites viewed by @google and @Facebook as mainstream, you can understand how yesterday’s attacks could easily happen to us.

This is not a beef on Twitter.

This is real life and death stuff.

@_journaling_ Arguably, posting that tweet which (like much of this discussion) I have archived, was a criminal act. If the OP tells the cops that I threatened her, she will be make a false police report. That's a felony.
@_journaling_ Which is one of the reasons why I've been archiving these discussions. A dirty delete won't make the archived copies go away, and they would be admissible in court.

Let's keep people honest, or at least try.

Twitter said it was cleaning up hate on the platform. But Twitter is still rife with white nationalists and far-right extremists. I put together a list of them. There are 1000s more, most of them anonymous. The problem won't go away until confronted.

Some very genuine people in my mentions who are definitely not just nazi trolls have a not at all disingenuous question about how Ben Shapiro could possibly collaborate with nazis, being Jewish and all.

So, okay! Let's talk about @benshapiro and nazis.
A couple days ago I talked about how alt-right news sources like Ben Shapiro and Breitbart pave the way for white supremacist radicalization and terrorist group recruitment.

The thread resonated with a lot of people.

But there were also the trolls who showed up just to say, "oh, but Ben Shapiro can't be a nazi enabler! He's Jewish!"

It's a common defense of @benshapiro, even when *actual nazi terrorists* are saying he inspired their actions.

It’s an important story that shows Facebook’s hostility to journalism about Facebook.

First, it’s essential that journalists and researchers be able to study Facebook’s platform, so that we can all answer some basic questions: Is Facebook distorting public discourse? Is it deepening our social divisions? Is it being highjacked to manipulate our elections? /2
These are existential questions for society, but FB hasn’t been forthcoming with details or data. And even if it had, we’d still need *independent* journalism and research to verify FB’s claims.
