Upon multiple request I will try to recreate the construction of the #ISS with the recent released @LEGO_Group model in this thread (if you find any errors please let me know):
On November 20th 1998 the first #ISS module #Zarya aka #FGB was launched from #Kazakhstan with a #ProtonK rocket. It was built in Russia but funded by @nasa but operated by @roscosmos. Its purpose is cargo storage
On December 4th Space Shuttle #Endeavour launched with the 1st US #ISS module #Unity on #STS88. Shortly after launch #Unity together with #PMA1 + #PMA2 were lifted from the payload bay and docked to the shuttle docking adapter:
On the 7th of December the Shuttle/#Unity stack docked with #Zarya with the famous words: ''Houston, Endeavour -- We have capture of Zarya,'' - @Astro_CabanaBob
On December 13 1998 #Endeavour undocked from the #ISS which look like this at that time. #Unity #PMA1 #PMA2 #Zarya
Between May 29th and June 3rd 1999 Space Shuttle #Discovery with #STS96 was docked to the #ISS to #PMA2 to bring up among others the #Russian #STRELA cargo arm.
Between May 20th and May 26th 2000 Space Shuttle #Atlantis visited the still unmanned #ISS with #STS101 and performed a reboost of the stack.
On July 12th 2000 the #Russian #ISS #Zvesda service module was launched by a #ProtonK. This is the main brain of the #ISS: reboosts are being done with it, 2 crew quaters it has and the central post is located there!
On July 26th 2000 #Zvesda docked to the aft docking port of #Zarya. From then on the #ISS looked like this:
On August the 6th 2000 the very first unmanned #Russian #Progress resupply capsule launched to the still unmanned #ISS #ProgressM1-3
2 days later on August 8th 2000 it docked to the aft end of #Zvesda. The #ISS looked like this from now on:
Between September 10th and September 18th 2000 Space Shuttle #Atlantis vistied the #ISS with #STS106. During the visited they outfitted #Zvesda, transfered cargo from #Progress and #Shuttle to the #ISS and performed a reboost.
Between October 13th and October 20th 2000 Space Shuttle #Discovery vistied the #ISS with #STS92. During the visit they added the #Z1 module to #Unity zenith and #PMA3 to #Unity nadir. With #Z1 added the #ISS received the control moment gyros and its first big antennas.
The #ISS looked like this from then on:
On October 31st 2000 the very first #ISS long duration crew #Exp1 launched to the #ISS with #SoyuzTM31 from #Baikonur
However before they could dock with the #ISS #ProgressM1-3 had to undock and reenter into the athmosphere on November 1st 2000.
On November 2nd 2000 the 1st #ISS Expedition arrived on board the #ISS. Since then the #ISS has always been crewed! #Soyuz31 #Exp1
On November 18th the unmanned #ProgressM1-4 cargo vehicle which was launched from #Baikonur 2 day earlier arrived at the orbital outpost and docked to #Zarya nadir. However automatic docking was not successful and it had to be docked manually.
However 2 weeks later before #STS97 arrived on December 1st #ProgressM1-4 undocked again for a 25 day free flight period!
Between December 2nd and December 9th 2000 Space Shuttle #Endeavour vistied the #ISS with #STS97. They added the #P6 truss element on a temporary basis on top of the #Z1 truss element to provide the #ISS with enough power! Also only 1 of 2 times a shuttle docked to #Unity nadir.
You can also see why the #Progress capsule had to undock temporarily: the Shuttle was too large and would have overlapped with the #Progress capsule!
On December 26th 2000 #ProgressM1-4 came back! Again manual docking! Also they unfolded the radiators after #Shuttle departure! #ISS
On February 7th 2001 Space Shuttle #Atlantis launched with the US #Destiny LAB however since it also had to dock with #Unity nadir #ProgressM1-4 had to depart on the 8th of February 2001 before the Shuttle could dock.
#STS98 arrived on the #ISS 9th of February 2001.
Before installing #Destiny however they had to temporarily relocate #PMA2 to #Z1 forward.
Then #Destiny could be added to #Node1 (Unity) forward!
And then #PMA2 could then again be relocated from #Z1 forward to #Destiny LAB forward. All of course with the Shuttle robotic arm!
Space Shuttle #Atlantis departed the #ISS on the 20th of February 2001.
Since automatic docking was only possible to #Zvesda aft at this time #Exp1 crew went into their #SoyuzTM31 to redock their spacecraft manually from #Zvesda aft to Zarya nadir on the 24th of February 2001 to make room for a new #Progress capsule.
On the 26th of February unmanned #ProgressM44 launched from #Baikonur and arrived at the #ISS 2 days later on the 28th of February 2001 and docked to #Zvesda aft. It brought resupply to the #ISS.
On the 8th of March 2001 Space Shuttle #Discovery launched with #STS102 and docked 2 days later on the 10th of March to the forward end of #PMA2. It had on board the new #Exp2 crew for the #ISS and brought home #Exp1. It also had MPLM Leonardo on board with resupply.
To berth the MPLM Leonardo which had a CBM hatch to transfer big racks for the #Destiny lab first #PMA3 had to be relocated from Node1 nadir to #Unity Node1 port.
Then MPLM Leonardo could be berthed to Node1 nadir.
On the 19th of March 2001 Space Shuttle #Discovery departed the #ISS together with #Exp1 and MPLM Leonardo leaving that configuration behind and #Exp2.
On the 16th of April #ProgressM44 departed the #ISS and burnt up on reentry with trash.
On the 18th of April 2001 #ISS #Exp2 redocked their #SoyuzTM31 spacecraft again from #Zarya nadir to #Zvesda aft after #ProgressM44 departed.
On the 19th of April 2001 Space Shuttle #Endeavour launched to the #ISS arriving there 2 days later on the 21st of April 2001 delivering #Canada‘s #SSRMS the station‘s robotic arm as well as more resupply with another MPLM this time #Raffaello.
On the 29th of April 2001 Space Shuttle #Endeavour with #STS100 departed the #ISS again.
On the 28th of April 2001 #SoyuzTM32 launched with the first space tourist on board it arrived at the #ISS on the 30th of April and docked to the nadir port of #Zarya.
On the 6th of May 2001 #SoyuzTM31 departed the #ISS with the same crew that arrived with #SoyuzTM32 leaving #Exp2 a new #Soyuz there as a lifeboat.
On the 20th of May 2001 #ProgressM1-6 launched to the #ISS with resupply. It arrived at the #ISS on the 23rd of May and docked to #Zvesda aft. It was the first time the modernized #SoyuzFG rocket was used.
On the 12th of July 2001 Space Shuttle #Atlantis launched with the #ISS #Quest airlock on board. It arrived 2 days later on the 14th of July 2001. #Quest was installed to #Node1 starboard.
Space Shuttle #Atlantis departed the #ISS on the 22nd of July 2001.
On the 10th of August 2001 Space Shuttle #Discovery launched to the #ISS on #STS105. It was the last mission of Discovery before the #Columbia disaster. It arrived at the #ISS on the 12th of August 2001 and replaced #Exp2 with #Exp3 and had MPLM Leonardo with it for resupply.
#STS105 departed on the 20th of August 2001 leaving behind the new #Exp3 crew.
On the 21st of August 2001 #ProgressM45 launched to be docked to the #ISS 2 days later.
However first the docking port at #Zvesda aft had to be freed up from #ProgressM1-6 which left the #ISS on the 22nd of August 2001 to reenter into the Earth atmosphere.
So on the 23rd of August 2001 #ProgressM45 could dock to the #Zvesda aft docking port. #ISS
On the 14th of September 2001 the #Pirs docking compartment was launched with a #Soyuz rocket on top of a modified #Progress spacecraft. That module would be used for Russian spacewalks. (The LEGO model does not include this model so I used 2 white studs for it)
#Pirs docked to the nadir docking port of #Zvesda on the 17th of September 2001 and is there ever since!
On the 26th of September 2001 the modified #ProgressM-SO1 detached from #Pirs and reentered. (Please imagine the grey rod not being there. I have not yet found a better solution to show you Pirs attached) #ISS
On the 19th of October 2001 #Exp3 redocked their #SoyuzTM32 from #Zarya nadir to #Pirs
On the 21st of October 2001 #SoyuzTM33 launched from #Baikonur and docked with #Zarya aft on the 23rd of October 2001.
On the 31st of October #SoyuzTM32 undocked from #ISS with the crew that came up on #SoyuzTM33 and landed later on Earth leaving #Exp3 a new lifeboat behind.
On the 22nd of November 2001 #ProgressM45 left the #ISS for a burnup into the atmosphere.
On the 26th of November 2001 #ProgressM1-7 was launched and docked to the #ISS on the 28th of November 2001 with fresh resupplies for the crew.
Between the 7th of December and 15th of December Space Shuttle #Endeavour with #STS108 visited the #ISS, replaced #Exp3 with #Exp4 and delivered resupply with MPLM Raffaello.
On the 19th of March 2002 #ProgressM1-7 detached from #ISS reentered + was replaced by #ProgressM1-8 on the 24th of March 2002. A #Progress should always attached as often as possible to #Zvesda for reboosts. If not #Zvesda thrusters have to be used which have a limited lifetime.
Between the 10th of April and 17th of April 2002 Space Shuttle #Atlantis with #STS110 visited the #ISS and added the with #S0 the first element of the truss segment to the orbital outpost.
On the 20th of April 2002 #Exp4 redocked their #SoyuzTM33 spacecraft from #Zarya nadir to #Pirs to free up the #Zarya docking port for #SoyuzTM34
On the 25th of April 2002 #SoyuzTM34 launched from #Baikonur and docked with the #ISS at the #Zarya nadir docking port on the 27th of April 2002. On board: one Russian, @esa Astronaut #RobertoVittori and a space tourist from South Africa.
On the 5th of May 2002 #SoyuzTM33 departed the #ISS #Pirs module and landed in #Kazakhstan with the crew that launched with #SoyuzTM34 leaving #Exp4 a new lifeboat.
Between the 7th of June and 15th of June 2002 Space Shuttle #Endeavour with #STS111 visited the #ISS, replaced #Exp4 with #Exp5 and delivered resupply with MPLM #Leonardo.
On the 25th of June 2002 #ProgressM1-8 detached from #ISS burnt up on reentry and was replaced by #ProgressM46 which launched on the 26th of June and arrived at #Zvesda aft on the 29th of June 2002.
On the 24th of September 2002 #ProgressM46 detached from #ISS burnt up on reentry and was replaced by #ProgressM1-9 which launched on the 25th of September and arrived at #Zvesda aft on the 29th of September 2002.
Between the 9th of October and 16th of October 2002 Space Shuttle #Atlantis with #STS112 visited the #ISS and added the with #S1 the second element of the truss segment to the orbital outpost.
On the 30th of October 2002 the very first modernized #SoyuzTMA1 launched from #Baikonur and docked to the #ISS on #Pirs on the 1st of November 2002. On board a short durstion crew of 2 Russians and @esa Astronaut #FrankDeWinne.
