Starting a quick thread to track the different engines on the #Tianhe-1 module of the CSS (feel free to comment if smth. is missing!)
Let's first start with the fact that Tianhe-1 is equipped with 30 thrusters, of which 26 are chemical thrusters, and 4 are Hall Effect thrusters.
Most thrusters are situated on the non-pressurized propulsion compartment at the very back of the Tianhe-1: a compartment that has a diameter of 4.2m & a height of 2.1m. This area is literally full of propellant! Its dry mass is 487 kg, but weighs 4.3 tons once fueled up... Image
Among these 26 thrusters, 4 are larger orbital control thrusters, which are very visible on pictures. They have an angle of inclinaison with the axis of the Tianhe-1, presumably to avoid having the thrust affect the core module exterior wall. Image

Russia, 1939.

Today we celebrate ‘One small step for Man, One giant leap for Mankind’ - the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. This day in 1969 Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin made history as they stepped down onto the Lunar Surface. 🌕 Image
Also, on this day last year Soyuz MS-13 launched to the @Space_Station with Expedition 60 crew members @astro_luca, @AstroDrewMorgan and Alexander Skvortskov on board! Image
At the time of this launch I was in a few hours out of Cologne, as it was during my internship with the European Space Agency.

I managed to get this photo of the @Space_Station and #Soyuz passing overhead that evening! 🛰

Upon multiple request I will try to recreate the construction of the #ISS with the recent released @LEGO_Group model in this thread (if you find any errors please let me know):
On November 20th 1998 the first #ISS module #Zarya aka #FGB was launched from #Kazakhstan with a #ProtonK rocket. It was built in Russia but funded by @nasa but operated by @roscosmos. Its purpose is cargo storage
On December 4th Space Shuttle #Endeavour launched with the 1st US #ISS module #Unity on #STS88. Shortly after launch #Unity together with #PMA1 + #PMA2 were lifted from the payload bay and docked to the shuttle docking adapter:

Here is the thread about my visit to #RSCEnergia Museum with group of friends from #AlphaCentauri Channel. The Museum is located on RSC Energia territory in the city of Korolev, and it is not easy to get there due to the security level. But thanks to Evgeny we managed this quest!
It is forbidden to make photos inside the perimeter of RSC Energia, so I can show you only the entrance and the #Vostok rocket that stays on the territory. There is written on the entrance building: "Space begins here!".
This is the hallway of the Museum with beautiful photos of rockets and the 1:1 mock-up of #Sputnik, the first artificial Earth's satellite.
