The Truth and the Lie met on the road one day. The Lie greeted the Truth, saying, "It's a marvellous day today."

The Truth, recognizing the Lie for what it was, looked up to the skies and sighed, but the day was really beautiful. They walked along, eventually arriving at a well.
The Lie said to the Truth, "The water’s nice, let's soak for awhile together." The Truth, again suspicious, tested the water and discovers that it indeed was comfortable. They undressed lowered themselves into the water.
Suddenly, the Lie jumped out of the water, put on the clothes of the Truth and ran away. The furious Truth emerged from the well, running everywhere to find the Lie to get her clothes back.
The World, seeing the naked Truth, turned its gaze away in contempt. Truth returned to the well and disappeared forever, hiding there in shame.
Since then, the Lie travels the globe dressed as the Truth, satisfying the needs of society, because the World has no wish at all to meet the naked Truth.
