An old legend

The Truth and the Lie met on the road one day. The Lie greeted the Truth, saying, "It's a marvellous day today."
The Truth, recognizing the Lie for what it was, looked up to the skies and sighed, but the day was really beautiful. They walked along, eventually arriving at a well.
The Lie said to the Truth, "The water’s nice, let's soak for awhile together." The Truth, again suspicious, tested the water and discovers that it indeed was comfortable. They undressed lowered themselves into the water.
Suddenly, the Lie jumped out of the water, put on the clothes of the Truth and ran away. The furious Truth emerged from the well, running everywhere to find the Lie to get her clothes back.
The World, seeing the naked Truth, turned its gaze away in contempt. Truth returned to the well and disappeared forever, hiding there in shame.
Since then, the Lie travels the globe dressed as the Truth, satisfying the needs of society, because the World has no wish at all to meet the naked Truth.

Odd Woman Out

"She's an artist."

That's what they told me when I saw her at the wake,
slender, striking, wearing a black leather jacket,
a jaunty beret and looking nothing like the familiar
dowdy aunts and cousins.
I liked the clothes she wore
and thought she was pretty, but old.

I was a little girl – maybe five,
and you know how that is – anyone past thirtyish seems ancient.
I'll bet she was not as old as I am now.
I remember her black hair and aristocratic features,
although at five I wouldn't have known that word.

I knew I'd never seen her before,
not at Christmastime or picnics
or any other family to-do;
I wouldn't forget a face like that.

How It Used To Be

It took three minutes for the TV to warm up.

Nobody owned a purebred dog.
A quarter was a decent allowance & made with real silver.

You'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny - made with real copper. (I still do...giggle).
Your Mom wore stockings that came in two pieces - one for each leg.

You got your windshield cleaned, oil checked & gas pumped, without asking, all for free, every time.

You didn't pay for air & you got trading stamps, too.
Laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels hidden inside the box.

And don't forget Crackerjacks! A prize in every box.

Teachers threatened to keep kids back a grade if they failed...and they did it.

When a 57 Chevy was everyone's dream car.

People "went steady."

 After receiving notifications from followers that a particular "Twatter Censorship" post I put up this morning was being #CENSORED I decided to look into my analytics to see if there was anything strange going on.
Today's counts were low but then I noticed THIS anomaly.
3/
 On one particular day my viewership had dipped to ZERO action.
None.
Zilch.
Nada.
Very strange because I remember posting significantly that day.
