This is one of the stories collected by Lawerence Millman in the remarkable anthology: A Kayak Full of Ghosts: Eskimo Folk Tales, published by Interlink Books in 2004.

This one has narwhals, and, literally, a happy ending.
Timeless wisdom.
This is a reminiscent of the story of Aladdin and his Magic Lantern, but with more of a "girl power" angle.
The moral of this Inuit tale is never ignore your wife's advice, even if - actually, *especially* if - you're both dead.
Taboos are there for a *reason*, folks.
