The parallels to the Rob Ford story are pretty weird

2010: once-joke running on populist grievance beats experienced baggage-laden center-lefter

2014: Veteran left-winger gets lead, is overtaken by more conservative guy with history of losing who’s running on a return to normal
I don’t wanna just compare things to Toronto because I covered Toronto, but, like, that’s a weird number of similarities
Sanders is not the Rob Ford. Trump is the Rob Ford. Sanders is the Olivia Chow.
The candidate running on the return to normalcy, John Tory, defeated the left-winger Olivia Chow and Ford’s brother Doug after Doug took Rob’s place on the ballot when Rob was diagnosed with cancer. (Four years later, Doug was elected premier of Ontario.)

From July 8-March 1, top 10 subjects of Trump false claims (there's overlap between them):

1: Economy (437)

That impeachment is #5, Ukraine is #7 and the Zelensky call is #10 stands out to me -- that story only really started in late September, so the dishonesty came fast and furious. Also notable: immigration falling down the list from #1 in 2018 (it was his big midterms lie subject).
Trump has told the Veterans Choice lie 47 times since July 8. That's part of why "military," one of the categories it falls into, is high on the category list.

Trump repeats his lie-promise to always defend protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
Fox asks Trump an actual follow-up question about this, noting that he's trying to get Obamacare overturned in the courts. He says that if Republicans win back the House, "You'll have the best health care, health insurance, anywhere on the planet." Zero details.
Trump eventually claims that Republicans will "put much better" health care and protect pre-existing conditions if Obamacare is overturned by the courts. Again, no specifics.

Trump on the coronavirus: "It wasn't something that was going to affect us. You know, you don't think of it in terms -- when you first heard it in China, you don't think our country's gonna be affected."
Trump told Hannity that "in one way, he hated to" bring back Americans from the Diamond Princess cruise -- "statistically, I hated to do it" -- since it would increase the number of US coronavirus cases, and he wondered, "Is it gonna look bad?" But he decided it was right.
(The "he" in "he hated to" should be "I")

We've got six of seven seats in Newfoundland & Labrador reporting — every one but the interesting seat, in St John's East, where Jack Harris is hoping to take the seat back from the NDP (The fact that there's no results yet probably means people are still voting there. Exciting!)
So we're still two hours from the next sets of polls closing, but we're getting some details from the East and....it looks roughly like we were expecting. The Liberals look set to hold most of what they had — the NDP may take St John's East, the Tories may take a few in NB.
