First, and maybe most importantly, _don't try and replicate an office remotely_. I've worked companies that spanned the gamut of "remoteness", and I can't stress this enough...it's not the same thing - you have to be intentional about that!

Communication is 🔑 in a remote environment. You have to be super intentional about how communicating remote is handled...especially through text. bit.ly/2Ttqs8m provides a bunch of insight here.

I always tell people that @gitlab we talk about *how* we communicate as much as any other topic. Our communication guidelines are extensive including a huge section on Slack (would apply to Teams, etc). It's a lot but I really suggest reading it! labwork.dev/go/gl-comms
