🚨BREAKING: Good news! Preliminary study of 10 patients with severe #COVID19 shows that after 1 dose of convalescent plasma:

▶️Virus disappeared in blood in 7 days
▶️Clinical symptoms rapidly improved within 3 days
▶️Lung lesions improves within 7 days

The study in #China was NOT randomized, so these results must be confirmed in larger studies.

These preliminary results are encouraging: several patients cleared the #coronavirus entirely, suggesting that plasma “can serve as a promising rescue option” for severe #COVID19 cases.

The viral load was *undetectable* after transfusion in 7 patients who had previous viremia (virus in blood).

Several lab parameters tended to improve: lymphocyte counts and C-reactive protein. Radiological exams showed varying degrees of absorption of lung lesions within 7 d.
Althought these PRELIMINARY results are encouraging, they *must* be confirmed in larger studies....🤞🏼

Good news: these studies of #convalescentplasma are already underway here in the US!😃

🚨BREAKING: major safety issues seen in a study in #Brazil of #chloroquine treatment for #coronavirus. 25% of patients taking the higher dose of chloroquine recommended by #China had irregular EKGs that increase risk of a fatal heart arrhythmia. 17% DIED.

🔥One of the authors of the study, Dr. Marcus Lacerda, said that his study found that “the high dosage (of #chloroquine) that the Chinese were using is very TOXIC and KILLS more patients.”

Yet @realDonaldTrump–who is NOT a doctor–keeps pushing its use.🤬

~50% of patients were given 450 mg of #chloroquine 2x/day for 5 days, while the rest were given 600 mg for 10 days. Within 3 days, heart arrhythmias were noted in patients at the higher dose. By the 6th day, 11 patients had DIED, immediately ending the high-dose treatment arm.

🚨BREAKING: Good news on #Easter! New #coronavirus cases per day in the US *appear to have peaked*.

Lockdowns and #PhysicalDistancing are finally paying off.

@realDonaldTrump is pushing to reopen, but if we let our foot off the brake too soon, #COVID19 cases will explode again.
While new #coronavirus cases per day appear to have peaked, our cumulative total number of cases has soared to nearly 560,000, exceeding all other nations (#China NOT accurate).

Sadly, we are *MASSIVELY undercounting* due Trump's FAILURE to roll out adequate #COVID19 testing.🤬
As I've warned, even though new #coronavirus cases per day *appear* to have peaked, the daily death toll will *keep rising*, because it takes several weeks for #COVID19 patients to succumb after diagnosis.

Now that new cases have peaked, new deaths/day should peak in ~1-2 weeks.
