9 EASY STEPS 📌

you should be taking right now to protect yourself, your accounts and your privacy against #phishing attacks.

#Thread 👇 (1/14)
We’re all living with extra precautions due to the reality of #COVID19 but, unfortunately, that’s not the only threat we’re dealing with.

Cybercrimes are occurring more frequently in the past few weeks, so we’re sharing a list of precautions you all should follow.

(2/14)
If these feel pretty obvious to you — AWESOME! 🤩 But it might be a good time to remind your family and friends to be careful.

(3/14)
1️⃣ Never share your passwords anywhere. Only you should know your #password, no one needs to ask you that information for anything.

If someone you know asks for this or other personal information, call them. Someone might have hacked into their email account.

(4/14)
2️⃣ When providing #login information always make sure you're accessing the actual website you think you are.

You can do that by checking the website link on the top bar of your browser.

(5/14)
3️⃣ If you’re suspicious about an email, validate the sender email address—see if the email is @ the correct company domain or doesn’t have any typo.

If the #email is correct but the message is weird, contact the person or the company using another communication channel.

(6/14)
4️⃣ Ignore anyone saying they have access to your private or sensitive information.

If they do they'll send it to you to prove it—in which case you should call the authorities.

(7/14)
5️⃣ Use different passwords for different accounts—especially for your most important accounts such as email, bank account, work software.

Use complex passwords, with uppercase/lowercase letters, numbers and symbols.

Also, try to update your passwords periodically.

(8/14)
6️⃣ When possible activate all the security mechanisms the services provide you, like two-factor #authentication and #security questions.

(9/14)
7️⃣ Never access important accounts on strangers’ computers or smartphones (or any other devices, for that matter!).

(10/14)
8️⃣ Never make a payment unless you are 100% sure you're on a legit website, app or service. If you aren’t sure, try to verify that before providing any credit card and other bank details.

(11/14)
9️⃣ Only open files downloaded from reliable sources or shared by trustworthy people.

(12/14)
If you have questions about a particular email, you should use Google to search the suspicious email/person/company name or even a quote from the email text.

There might be other people online who received the same malicious contact as you! 🤕

(13/14)
At the end of the day, we’re always trusting our data to the systems we use and we never know who’ll have access to it.

Follow these advises and keep your data safe. 🙂 Let us know if you have any questions!
