Our #suddenlyremote virtual event with @dessalen is live! Join us to talk about remote #onboarding here: thoughtexchange.com/virtual-events… Image
Regular #checkins are a must with #remoteonboarding! Using @thoughtxchng you can tweak your onboarding in real-time by getting an accurate read on where your new hires are in their progress.
#communication is key because we need to share our experiences and needs in order to create #connection with your new employee.
Connecting new hires with one another to share their experiences though a #buddy program, weekly check-ins with managers, regular meetings with HR all make that onboarding process engaging and fun for new hires.
Announce your hires to the whole company! Encourage your company to send them a quick message to #lovebomb them when they first start.
We also introduce new hires at our all-company meetings, camera on, so that everyone knows who they are and what they do!
#inclusion is key. A set of behaviours that lets your new hires know they're welcome and wanted at their new job.
Who's there to give advice to new hires? Why not everyone? We send out an #exchange when new hires start to allow the whole company to give them advice, and to make them feel more comfortable in the structure of @thoughtxchng.
Another way to create connection and inclusion is through what we call "Donut Dates" - quick lunch time meetings with random employees so they can get to know people from all over the company.
We've got @SlackHQ channels like #oops (funny mistakes we've made) and #whatnowthekidsarehome (advice for our parents who've got the kids home now) that offer another way to connect (and laugh with) each other.
We also allow for open calendars, so everyone can see what everyone else is doing, and can join other team meetings if they think it'll add value. It's optional, but encouraged at @thoughtxchng
New leader onboarding – "don't worry, you're going to love them!" But how to we create real connection between new leaders and their team?
We run an exchange to ask what a new leader should know, and how the team can feel the most supported. It can sometimes take months to get this information out of your new team, with our software it takes minutes.
Thanks to all of you who took the time to chat with @dessalen about #remoteonboarding today! Check out our upcoming #suddenlyremote events here: thoughtexchange.com/events-calenda…

Starting with an exercise to see where we are all coming from. Not geographically, but measuring our white privilege through a series of questions. We are all coming to this conversation from different places, we recognize and embrace this. #BringPeopleTogether #TeVE
@EquitySupt1 reminds us that Feb. is set aside for #BlackHistoryMonth. Learnings that have come from Martin Luther King for Dennis - racial metamorphosis. White allies for MLK? He found them amongst other clergy. He called on them to be a part of his work. #BringPeopleTogether

@KafrissenKai starts us off with a group activity to recognize our White Privilege. Kai acknowledges that she is showing up today in her own way, and leaning into these conversations as best she can. How are you showing up today? #BringPeopleTogether #TeVirtualEvents
@EquitySupt1 reminds us why we are bringing people together for this work. 90% of school district leaders in the US are white. 90% also stated that the work of #DEI is important but only 20% believe that they are equipped with the skills and talent to lead this work! #Equity

@KafrissenKai - We are stronger together! What is Kai seeing with our customers around #DEI? Leaders are making this an ongoing conversation! Shared definitions are helping to avoid different meanings for different people to facilitate our learning. #BringPeopleTogether
