As my law office waits to see if we'll clear this round of #PPP funding to receive the extremely modest loan we'll need to keep staff on payroll/benefits as our revenue continues to stall, I just can't stop thinking about this wanton pigfucker.
We couldn't even *apply* for relief last round bc @SantanderBankUS couldn't pull together a simple application process in 2 weeks before big GOP donors like Bennett started *paying himself & his dad dividends* from your tax $$ which could have saved 100 companies like ours
The three law partners in my office all agreed to stop receiving paychecks 2 months ago so that we could do our best to use our reserve funds & limited revenue to keep staff who does so much for us employed & insured. There was no discussion about this whatsoever. It was assumed.
Thanks to the wisdom of the partner who manages our money we had done everything right, amassing a pretty solid reserve for this kind of contingency. (I'd always wondered what might require us to pay everyone with little-to-no revenue coming in for months, but here we are!)
But maybe 90% of our client base works in the service industry in some capacity and few are able to work rn. Most live in immigrant communities like #EastBoston & #Chelsea which have borne the worst of this crisis. We're not chasing them down for their fees, much as we need them.
I spent my late 20s and all of my 30s building this firm ground-up, & I'm very proud of our work & all of the incredible talent we've been fortunate enough to have on staff. Can only imagine how much worse this would feel if I we had inventory or a seasonal cycle to worry about.
Not looking for a gold star here--unless it's actually made of gold; that shit is going on eBay ASAP to reintroduce my bank account to the concept of cash money. We're just doing what all responsible companies are doing for their people rn. Wasn't that the exact purpose of #PPP?
There's this persistent belief that #immigrationlaw must be profitable rn, but IMO that's really only if you're doing it in a way which actively harms the families & communities we're trying to help. I am the head of a nationally-recognized firm, and I live paycheck to paycheck.
Anyway. Care to imagine how this gilded bucket of shit feels about working-class people (including his 7,000 hotel employees) who "didn't plan ahead" or "don't know how to save" while trying to survive on whatever he's been paying them?

I need a walk.
Anyway, ICYMI all of that $$ you read about Monty & co paying to themselves was from #PPP--even as he laid off 95% of his workers. Let's maybe "delist" him from more than the stupid game for the megarich which controls all of our lives for some reason
