Day 26 of #selfisolation due to suspected #covid19 coming to an end – the symptoms linger on and I’ll share some resources that may help you if you’re in a similar situation 1/n
In case you weren’t aware, I’ve been diagnosed over the phone by my GP, but have not been tested yet here in the UK 2/n
I tried testing my abilities yesterday. Walked up and down the stairs at home, quicker than normal, 3 times. My legs were burning in pain, my heart rate was noticeably elevated and I started to feel very dizzy, so just sat down 3/n
Still living with extreme muscle fatigue today. As a test, I sat on the floor and tried to get up. My god, seriously difficult and took multiple attempts and couldn’t lift myself up without summoning every ounce of strength. I then felt light headed afterwards 4/n
Apart from these tests, it’s just a matter of resting and listening to my body. I continue to hydrate, take my vitamin supplements and eat a balanced diet 5/n
I slept for over 5 hours last night, which is a lot since my symptoms began. I even managed to stay awake till lunchtime after I woke up today, which is unusual right now. After lunch my fatigue kicked in, and I went into a deep sleep for 5 hours. 6/n
Pain in hands, fingers, feet persist. Virus could be doing something neurological? Will just remain vigilant in case it worsens significantly, such as not being able to move part of my body 7/n
The only place I can relate to people about my covid-19 trajectory is online, by connecting with other patients. It’s difficult to relate to some friends who either think I’m exaggerating my symptoms or tell me I am probably not eating the right foods to recover. 8/n
Here is the 1st online patient community I have been using – It’s the Coronavirus Survivor Corps group on Facebook 9/n
The 2nd online patient community I’ve been using is the Body Politic covid-19 support group on Slack docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI… 10/n
The 3rd online patient community is the covid19positive subreddit on reddit – it’s set up for those who have been tested positive/presumed positive reddit.com/r/COVID19posit… 11/n
I’m not turning to these online patient communities to self diagnose per se but to understand a bit more about what’s happening to me, and to hear from those who have fully recovered and how long it took them, and to help others where I can 12/n
Thankfully, I have burst of energy, usually first and last thing in the day, where I can do things like write this thread. I have another call with my GP scheduled for tomorrow. Let’s see what happens. /end
