Let's start with your question #DebateWhat?

1. Debate the need for another worthless study.

How many lives were saved by the hundreds of studies already done in the past 2+ years?

YOU WON'T ANSWER THIS QUESTION!

2. #HCQ vs #RunDeathIsNear do you honestly think your patients
give one fuck about the results of yet another study. You are NOT doing a study to #SaveLives, so what value do you offer to humans dying AT-SCALE?

Another question you won't answer.

3. 200.00 per year per patient - WTF am I even talking about? I'm talking about the cost of
"appointments" over the course of a year. I paid $115 for my #DigitalHealth appt. and that covered 1 Refill, so (2) 90 day RXs of #IVM b/c as you admit #HCQ is being blocked by pharmacists, something WE'VE ALL KNOWN since March 2020.

So I CAN ONLY make the assumption you get 30.

1) Today, we’re diving into Health Catalyst (HCAT) — a data and analytics business that helps top health systems in the US run more efficiently.

Despite being a public co, HCAT is a classic example of a healthcare company that most people have never heard of…

#digitalhealth
2) HCAT was founded in 2008 by co-founders Tom Burton and Steve Barlow who met at @Intermountain and grew frustrated by the lack of data used to drive the health system.

In the simplest terms, they founded HCAT to reimagine and improve healthcare through data.
3) So what does this actually mean? HCAT helps orgs manage and understand data so they can reduce administrative waste, better manage cost, & improve clinical outcomes.

Although a bit of an eye-chart, this helps highlight all of the different parts of an org that HCAT touches

Your data, packaged and sold by @IBM. 'Business analysts said the data dump instantly makes Francisco Partners a significant player in the multibillion-dollar business of buying and selling sensitive information about the care of patients.’ @statnews @caseymross
@IBM @statnews @caseymross How did IBM get all your sensitive health data to sell? They bought other companies that acquired your sensitive health data. And how did they get it? Mostly from 3rd parties who obtained it from health systems, insurers, & others you trust with your data. #privacy #digitalhealth
@IBM @statnews @caseymross And what is being done w/your sensitive data as billion dollar companies buy and sell it? [well, something that makes it valuable to people who want to buy it] And can you reclaim it or get access to it? [no] And is there consequences to orgs that share your sensitive data [no]

MYTH: ONC’s rule to encourage the sharing of health information, which went into effect on April 5, 2021, is also called the “Open Notes” rule

FACT: ONC’s rule is called the “Cures Act Final Rule” 🧵⬇️
The 21st Century Cures Act was an overwhelmingly bipartisan piece of legislation signed into law by President Obama in 2016. Information sharing is central to ONC’s Cures Act Final Rule and, as a result, some refer to the rule as the “information sharing rule”.
Some also (mistakenly) refer to the Cures Act Final Rule as the "Open Notes Rule” but this is inaccurate. Though ONC supports the concept of 'open notes' and the work being done by @myopennotes, the Cures Act Final Rule and ‘open notes’ are not synonymous.

3 Insanely Simple Reasons why this #SnapchatAd 👻 is CRUSHING‼️

THREAD (1/8)
#1 The ad is made to look Snapchat #Native. Many Snapchat ads are simply recycled TikTok or Instagram Ads, and while that can be successful, you can take your content to the next level by building #PaidContent that looks indistinguishable from #OrganicContent.

(2/8)
What makes it perfect for Snapchat? First, it is a selfie, makes up most of the content that organically circulates on the platform. Second, it uses a Snapchat native Caption Style. The translucent gray bar with Helvetica font has become irrevocably tied to Snapchat.

"Every unsolved problem allowed to fester undermines a battered public health system just at the moment we need to be rebuilding trust, not fear. We need information that’s fast, accessible, responsive. That’s the cornerstone of trust." politico.com/news/magazine/… @JoanneKenen
Listen, here's the thing: These vaccines are MARVELOUS. Like, so much better than expected. And they are marvelously safe!

But the troubles with our system both predate #COVID19, and have been exacerbated by it.

And this vaccine story illustrates ALL THE TROUBLE.
I try hard to be clear about
- where I get my data
- how I interpret it
- why I do what I do

.... both online, in the media, and in my clinical practice.

But my patients frequently tell me I am not the norm? (!)

Last thread of #CCIOHomeSchool before the weekend and lets try to tackle the existential question of what a CCIO is and does
This is important not just for our own sanity (!) but because without there being a clear understanding of the role inside and outside of the #DigitalHealth community, then the calls for these roles to be recognised as important in organisations will fall flat
Staff at all levels will broadly be able to describe what the Medical and Nursing Directors do. I don't think the same is true for CCIO type roles

Can we talk about the knock-on effects of #COVID19, yet?

Provisional counts for drug overdose deaths in the US show an 18% increase - primarily #opioid-related - from May 2019-May 2020... starting Aug '19, but largest increase in May '20

cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr…
Multiple small studies back up these provisional national data.

The biggest increase in ODs was seen 1 month post-lockdown - likely due to decreased access to treatment, and increased synthetic opioids in the supply.

We know that people's lives started changing *before* shutdowns happened, & continued changing *after* they were lifted.

This virus has disrupted every aspect of society. The most vulnerable have become more so. The inequities have been heightened.

As a physician, can say this about doctor culture in the U.S.: we are a socially stunted puerile bunch easily manipulated by sales & marketing ppl or by metrics of competition, obsessed with status, prestige, ego..

...not my doctor friends...but we hang out at the margins.
The high school level drama that plays out in hospitals, then the replica, amplified, on #MedTwitter is 😱 No wonder our profession kills so many patients when we are so busy policing on pettiness & ignoring standards of quality, safety, population health ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…
There are many reasons why I am hanging up the stethoscope, one of which is that I cannot in good faith go into any clinical setting and feel confident about “first do no harm” - The system is too misaligned, not driving quality, safe results

Then, the human dynamics are

This. Black nurses like @mclemoremr who not only have authentic clinical and community experience, not only know the disparities data, but also are winning grants to do the studies themselves belong on the transition committee or COVID Task Force.
In contrast when I have taught medical students straight from @AmerAcadPeds policy statements on racism in a hospital with a disparities center, have been told by a division chief that nurses find me “too political” which exactly is this that @COCoQC lays out

Not safe spaces Image
Repeatedly I “break ranks” - I don’t spend my time on outrage over “scope creep” - who is serving in the communities where Black women die at a 12x higher rate from maternal mortality? Not the doctors or nurses battling on own job & pay.

Two weeks in my @Levels program and have a bunch of tests & thoughts I'll share later but this was too interesting not to share now. Ate 3 pieces of pizza for dinner just to see what it did to my glucose... #wearables #metabolicfitness #metabolism #DigitalHealth
Initial response was not bad (relatively) for the first 3 hours - even got a score of 8 from @Levels but then it got interesting. Glucose continued to bounce and stay high for the next 7 (!) hours, well into my sleep... ImageImage
Glucose finally came down around 1AM - my sleep was terrible that night & @ouraring showed my HRV finally started going up (good) and resting HR came down (also good) right around 1AM, same time the glucose leveled... ImageImage
